How to write an essay (the 6 stages of writing)
This one was inspired by a few months of writing essays, papers, and doing some textbook work. “The 6 stages of writing”: your experience of step 6 may vary..
I used to hate writing essays, gravitating to science subjects because I can’t stand waffle and bullshit wasting the reader’s life, to fill a word count for the sake of it. My attitude has really changed over the years though, being able to write what I want, in my own voice, and I now find it amazing. My enthusiasm is fired up by finding a personal angle on the subject I can get passionate about, and trying to communicate more than cold factual information.
I love comedy, and listening to comedians like Louis CK is a great way to see amazing wordsmithery in action, where every word, pause, emphasis etc serves a purpose and helps trigger a good reaction reliably from the audience..
What stage of writing are you at now?
